Items

Be they magical or mundane, weapons or tools, item creation is one of my favorite aspects of Dungeons and Dragons. Each time an item is created, it is an opportunity to pack years of history into its making and use.

Disclaimer: the scaling of Homebrew magical items is set to the play-style of my campaign group. Some consider these items
“over-powered”, they are correct. Some were created for “epic campaigns” where the party faced Archfeys and Lesser Deities, so they were made to accommodate the enjoyment of the players.

Pillars of Creation

A Collection of artifacts formed outside of the influence of deities. During the War of Last Rites, those without religious affiliation sought to create items to combat those made by gods.

At the time of the war, many racial factions battled over territories under the name of the gods. With the help of their patrons, these mortals obtained powerful gifts to aid them in battle. As the armies became greedy with the power given to them, those close to portals or capable of planar travel, began to evade other worlds. Because of this, all Inner-planes became involved in the war. Higher Fey, Devils, Fiends, and Elementals took it upon themselves to create weapons. These “Pillars” hold the foundation of the universe as we see it today.

Relics from Runel

As millenniums pass and the people of Runel fade into history, their mundane magical items turn into ancient relics that pique the interest of the modern age. Commonly found in museums or in the hands of adventurers, these relics are sought after by collectors to shifty assassins.
